“ Went to this restaurant today by chance and glad I did. I happened to be on this side of town for a doctor's appointment and stopped at Target parking lot to charge my vehicle. This restaurant is a very short walk in the same parking lot as the charging station. Immediately the waitress was attentive and polite. The menu is both in English and Spanish. My son chose the Ham and Eggs breakfast plate and I got the special of shredded beef and eggs scramble. You get your choice of corn or flour tortillas. We both chose the flour and they were definitely homemade and pipping hot when they came out. I can tell they make the tortillas the traditional way with Manteca so they were so soft and delicious. While I was waiting for the food I overheard another patron ask about their desserts and they said they had fresh churros and chocolate cake. Since I was in a rush to get to our appointment I asked the waitress if we could try one of each dessert before the meal. I regret not taking pictures because the cake and churros so good but we cleaned the plates so fast. The cake is actually a tres leches chocolate cake with a really good frosting, fresh strawberries and chocolate drizzle. The churros were also very hot and just made. When the food came out it was also very good. My one regret is not having enough time to enjoy my meal or else my son and I would have ordered extra sides of rice, we wanted more. My son ordered limeade and is used to the fountain lemonade but I loved it because it was the aqua Fresca style with fresh juice. I would make the 45 minute drive from my house to eat here again the service was great. ”

“ Had a training near by and our first place was closed. Cute little restaurant. We were seated quickly. Service was a little slow but seemed to just have 2 workers. We were on a time crunch so it may have seemed longer than it was. My friend had pozole and she said it was a bit spicy. We had to order chips and salsa. They were delicious served with beans and salsa. I had a Huarache of carne asada. It was tasty. ”

“ This place is becoming my favorite spots in town. I love dipping my head in after being at UNLV all day. I always get the combo 6 but I do think about trying other things. I'm just to lazy to try something new and usually when I go I'm starving for enchiladas. The lady in the front is always nice. I love they give you a lot of rice and beans. The inside is so cozy and authentic. I just love this place. ”

“ This is what I envisioned an authentic Mexican restaurant to be. Very friendly lady server. All the patrons on my visit were speaking Spanish. Most dishes may be on the spicier side but they do have more milder plates, just ask if you are sensitive to spice-heat. I had the best shrimp Diablo ever. So much plump, large and clean shrimp. The sauce was so flavorful and so warming. Even the refried beans were perfect. No complimentary chips but they do have corn and flour tortilla choices included with most plates. They even have an array of "hotter" salsas on request. Of course one can buy chips. Everything, even the mini salad sliced right then. There is a difference of freshness, flavor and hospitality here. ”

“ After enjoying a show at the Clark County Library, my friends and I were looking for a place nearby to eat. Restaurant El Rey was literally just a few minutes away, so we decided to eat there. First of all, the place isn't much on the outside; you could easily miss it if you aren't actively looking for it. But once you're inside, it's actually quite lovely! The decor is lively and colorful and makes you feel completely energized, welcomed, and ready to enjoy your meal there. We were quickly helped when we walked in, and our server was very welcoming and congenial. She seated us and got us our menus. Once we were ready to order, she took the time to answer a question to help me choose between two menu options. Prices were reasonable. After we all ordered, the food came out pretty quickly. And it was delicious! My shrimp burrito (I have never had a shrimp burrito in my entire life, so it was something new and interesting to try) was so good! It was flavorful with plenty of juicy, seasoned shrimp and yummy vegetables prepared to perfection. Unfortunately, I ended up overeating even though I brought half my burrito to-go because I seriously couldn't stop eating it and ended up finishing it in the car, lol! My friends' dishes also looked really yummy. If you're looking for a tasty place to eat that's close to Clark County Library, Restaurant El Rey is a great choice if you're craving some really good Mexican food! ”
